Chakras are spinning vortexes of subtle energies that are located along the spine from the crown of your head to the base of your tail bone. Chakra is an ancient Sanskrit word meaning “sacred wheel” and are each symbolized by a lotus flower that rotates. There are many chakras in the body, but the traditional Hindu system refers to the seven major chakras that exist along the spine (from the crown of the head to the coccyx). The aura or energy field that vibrates around us is a collection of the energy that our chakra system emits. When we have a healthy balanced aura, we wear a halo (as depicted in many great artworks of the saints with the gold light shining around the head or the body). Illness is believed to begin in the mental, emotional, and spiritual energies that we possess as human beings, when it manifest itself in the physical, it generally means that we have been carrying the dysfunction for some time. The chakras are able to indicate the origin of where we are having the disruption and where we will require the assistance and support in rebuilding our “Chi” or life force energy. Chakras can be opened too wide or can be closed or too small. They can spin too fast or too slow. When a gear in a car is spinning too fast, the car’s system can be totally thrown off. This is very similar to the chakra system we are discussing. The chakras can be balanced using many energy based therapies and also a number of tools such as colors, crystals, and essential oils. |
